On the 9th of September, 2021, Professor Alfred Oteng-Yeboah, Chairman of the Natural Science Specialized Committee and a Commissioner at the Ghana Commission for UNESCO was awarded the John C. Phillips Memorial Medal, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) oldest award, for outstanding service to international conservation. Accepting the award, he said, “If we can protect biodiversity, then land degradation and climate change will be a thing of the past.”
He received the award at the ongoing IUCN Congress in Marseille, France.
