Introduction
The Ghana Commission for UNESCO is a governmental institution subvented under the Ministry of Education. It coordinates all activities relating to UNESCO and Ghana relations. It works with governmental institutions – ministries, departments and agencies – civil society organizations, private organizations and other stakeholders in the five fields of competence of UNESCO, namely Education, the Sciences (Natural, Social and Human), Communication and Information and Culture. Its mandate is to ‘promote the ideals of UNESCO in Ghana and Ghana’s interest at UNESCO.’
As organizations evolve, the need for the organization to have a strategic direction is paramount to ensure the organization retains its relevance. In accordance, as part of its institutional capacity strengthening, the Ghana Commission for UNESCO would like to develop a 5-year strategic plan to ensure the Commission continues to fulfill its mandate and stay relevant through the assistance of a consultant.
Scope of work
The main objective of this consultancy is to develop a 5-year strategic plan for the Ghana Commission for UNESCO that takes into account the current internal and external operating environment in order to enhance its effectiveness and sustainability in its areas of operations.
At the end of the consultancy, the Commission expects to adopt a strategic plan that builds on the feats of the organization.

This exercise will engage with the internal Commission’s Strategic Planning Team (comprising of the Vice Chairman, Secretary-General, 4 Senior Staff and a Commissioner nominated by the Commission/Board) and entail a participatory process, including, but not limited to:

This Consultant will report directly to the Executive Committee through the Secretary-General.
Confidentiality information
All documents and data collected in the process of the consultancy will be treated as confidential and used solely to facilitate our consultancy services. All information to which the consultant shall receive access to shall at all times be treated as the property of the Commission and shall not be disclosed, saved for where express permission has been granted as such.
Consultancy duration
The strategic planning exercise is expected to be fully completed within 30 working days from the date of signing of the contract.
Budget and payment
The Consultant should submit a detailed budget in the EOI for consideration by the Commission.
The final terms will be stipulated in the consultancy contract.
