SOUND OUT ART EXHIBITION OPENS IN UNESCO, PARIS

Accra’s premium Art Exhibition – Sound Out has made its first appearance outside the shores of Ghana at the “Accra in Paris” event, organized in collaboration with the French Embassy in Ghana, Ghana Embassy in France, Empire Protocol and Media AK.

The platform offers Ghanaian Artists a premium opportunity to showcase their works to boost their trade in local and international destinations.

This maiden event held at the Hall Segur, UNESCO- Paris, has ten celebrated Artists exhibiting their pieces from April 25-28, 2022. Guests were excited to interact with some of the Artists who were physically present at the exhibition; Messrs Larry Otoo, Amarkine Amartefio, Nana Kwesi Agyare, Bright Danso, Madam Nana Yaa Omane-Peprah and Dr. Asabea Asare, CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority who doubles as a Mosaic Artist.

Ghana’s Ambassador to France, H.E. Anna Bossman, officially opened the exhibition – delivering a brief but very engaging address. Welcoming patrons after several months of virtual meetings due to the pandemic, she lauded the initiative of holding the SoundOut Art event in Paris, and was optimistic that this could be an annual event to promote Ghana’s rich culture in France.

Dr. Asabea Asare sharing her expectations for the event said the ultimate intention of the exhibition was to “build the platform to a level where it becomes an annual art festival, moving from one location to another, across continents”.

Ghana Export Promotion Authority’s mandate requires it to develop and facilitate non-traditional exports to achieve a target of USD25.3billion by the year 2029 as per Ghana’s National Export Development Strategy. This target can only be achieved by taking audacious initiatives such as leveraging on events like Accra in Paris to grow.

Also present at the official opening of the exhibition was the Secretary General, Ghana Commission for UNESCO, Mrs Ama Serwa Nerquaye-Tetteh who reiterated her organisation’s support to create an enabling environment for artists, to elevate the positioning of Arts in our societies.

The opening event saw a good mix of high-profile guests made up of Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Art Collectors, Gallery owners, Curators and international Media correspondents.

The Sound Out Art Exhibition runs from 9.30am – 5.30pm each day at the Hall Segur, UNESCO till April 28, 2022.
