  • THE UNIVERSCIENCE PROGRAM
Published by unesco-admin on October 13, 2020

The Universcience program is providing the opportunity/platform for young Ghanaian researchers to share their ideas with other young scientific talents.

France has decided to honour the African continent with the African cultural season 2020 – which will take place in France from 1st December 2020 to mid-July 2021.

In light of this, Universcience, the institution bringing together the Cité des sciences et d’industrie and the Palais de la découverte in Paris, one of Europe’s largest science centres, has planned to dedicate part of its programme to Africa with a scientific residence for 45 young scientists. This stimulating encounter with young African scientists and the initiation of new partnerships in Africa is an enriching opportunity for dialogue.

The aim of the event is to disseminate scientific, technical and industrial culture better at the international level and to encourage initiatives to promote innovation and research. It will make it possible to share good practices to pique interests in science and promote the role of mediation and informal education.

The programme will happen in two phases, the first phase will be virtual on 8th December, 2020 to make an initial contact with the group, to network, share a general reflection on scientific mediation in France and Africa and propose a training module in scientific mediation delivered by the Universcience School of Mediation. Phase 2 will be at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in Paris, from Sunday 7th to Friday 12th February 2021, to explore the campus, discover the expertise of Universcience and exchange on research topics of participants. During this week-long sequence, particular attention will be paid to the involvement of women in scientific careers. The residence week will also highlight Universcience’s skills and develop lasting links and partnerships with the participating countries.

If you wish to participate in this program kindly fill and submit the attached application form (can be filled in French or English) and send it back by 20th October 2020 to universcienceghana@gmail.com
