The Ghana Commission for UNESCO is pleased to bring to the attention of prospective applicants/institutions the call for applications for the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences. This prestigious award recognizes individuals, institutions, and organizations for outstanding contributions to improving human life through scientific research in the life sciences.
Established by UNESCO’s Executive Board in 2008, the Prize honours exceptional life sciences research that enhances the quality of human life. Funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, it awards a total of USD 300,000, divided equally among up to three laureates.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Eligible Candidates: Individuals, groups of individuals, institutions, or non-governmental organizations engaged in life sciences research.
- Nomination Process: Candidates must be nominated by UNESCO Member States, through their National Commissions, or by non-governmental organizations in official partnership with UNESCO that are active in relevant fields covered by the Prize. Each Member State or NGO may submit up to five nominations.
Application Process:
- Registration: Candidates should register online to receive login credentials for the application portal.
- Application Form: Complete the online application in English or French, providing:
- Background information
- Outline of the candidate’s contribution to the Prize’s objectives
- Summary of the research work
- List of major scientific publications
Endorsement:
Applications must be officially endorsed by the relevant National Commission (in the case of Ghana, the Ghana Commission for UNESCO for Ghanaians only).
