Understanding Your Right to Information

The Right to Information (RTI) is an important legal right in Ghana that enables individuals and organizations to access information held by public institutions, subject to the limitations and exemptions provided by law. The RTI promotes openness and enables citizens to better understand how public institutions operate, how decisions are made, and how public resources and programmes are managed.

Ghana’s Right to Information framework is established under the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989). The law provides a formal process through which members of the public can request information from institutions covered by the Act. Read more
