The Preparatory Office for WHIPIC, International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under the auspices of UNESCO, is launching a Video Contest for the 4th Webinar of the ‘World Heritage, Multiple Memories’ Webinar Series. This contest aims to show how heritage interpretation can contribute to achieving peace and reconciliation at World Heritage and other heritage sites.
Background
Interpreting heritage that is contested, conflicted and difficult is becoming increasingly important. This contest will showcase ‘best practice’ in interpreting difficult heritage through public engagement and participation. The submission should be in video format. The top three entrants will be qualified to participate in a webinar in May 2021.

Subject
Your video will need to demonstrate how reconciliation and peace have become part of protecting and managing sites of difficult/contested history. You can choose a World Heritage site or another heritage site. Your work will be used as a promotional material for heritage interpretation via online exhibitions or other events.
Submission Specifications
- Video with a length of five minutes (1280×720 HD or larger)
- Written Script for the video (under 1,000 words)
- Production Note that outlines how the work addresses the key themes and how it reflects the interpretation of the heritage (under 1,000 words)

Note
- WHIPIC reserves the right to use and distribute winning entries for non-profit purposes to raise the visibility of World Heritage.
- Plagiarized entries will be disqualified. This includes direct copies, imitations, composites, or modifications of other work. If plagiarism is discovered after a prize has been awarded, the recipient will be required to return all monies awarded to him/her.
- Applicants must take all due caution to avoid infringing upon third-party copyright.

- Prize monies may be adjusted according to the entries submitted.
- Prize-winners may be subject to taxes in relation to their receiving of the prize.
