Call for Applications: UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme for Young Women Scientists in Africa

The Ghana Commission for UNESCO is delighted to announce the inaugural call for applications for the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme for Young Women Scientists in Africa.
This initiative is dedicated to empowering young African women in the life sciences, fostering their active participation in scientific and technological development across the continent.

Established in 2024 and funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, the programme aims to bridge gender disparities in scientific research by providing targeted support to young women scientists. Each year, two exceptional candidates will receive grants of $25,000 each, with a total of $50,000, to advance their research and contribute to sustainable development in their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Nationality: Applicants must be African nationals conducting research at a recognized laboratory in Africa.
• Age: Must be under 45 years at the time of application.
• Academic Qualifications: Must possess a PhD in the field of life sciences.
• Research Focus: Must be engaged in scientific research within the life sciences, aiming to advance knowledge and contribute to sustainable development.

Application Process:

1. Pre-registration: Candidates should pre-register online to receive login credentials for the application portal.
2. Application Submission: Once pre-registered, the candidate will be invited to complete a comprehensive online submission form in English or French, which should include the following elements:

• An innovative research proposal feasible within one year.
• A detailed work plan with objectives, activities, and expected outcomes.
• A comprehensive budget breakdown for the $25,000 grant.
• Summary of past research and significant publications.
• Detailed curriculum vitae (CV).
• One or two recommendation letters from academic supervisors or peers.

Nomination Requirement: Please note that only Governments of all African Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions can submit applications.
