The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize, established in 2005 and funded by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Prize rewards projects that use new technologies to enhance teaching, learning and overall education performance in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Goal 4 on education. Keeping in with Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education, UNESCO with its partners is aiming to explore the effective and ethical use of AI applications to reduce barriers to access education and optimize learning processes with a view to improve learning outcomes.
The theme of 2019 Prize is The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to innovate education, learning and teaching.
Each prize-winner will receive a diploma, USD25,000 and acknowledgement during a ceremony to be held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
Who can apply?
Individuals, institutions or non-governmental organizations that have made outstanding innovation and significant contributions through projects to support and/or promote the creative use of ICT to ensure education for excluded vulnerable groups.
