Chairmen of the Specialized committees of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO today called on the Honourable Minister for Education and Ghana’s representative On the UNESCO Executive Board, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum (MP), to brief him on preparations for the upcoming 211th session of the UNESCO Executive Board.
The Chairmen, Prof. Alfred Oteng-Yeboah-Natural Sciences, Dr.Kweku Rockson-Communication and Information, Mr. William Boateng –Culture and Prof. Yaw Afari Ankomah–Education, were accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry of Education and Vice Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Benjamin K. Gyasi, the Secretary-General , Mrs. Ama Serwah Nerquaye-Tetteh and Mr. Riche-Mike Wellington, both of the Commission.
Receiving the Chairmen, the Hon Minister thanked them for their service to Ghana and their role in ensuring that the country is well represented at the 58-member Executive Board of the UN Body. He added that, as Ghana’s representative on the Board, it is his duty to espouse the President’s vision and to ensure that Ghana contributes meaningfully to the dialogue on this world stage and he counts on their support to make this a reality.
The 211th Executive board session will take place virtually from the 7th -21st April 2021 and the Honourable Minister is expected to address the board and highlight Ghana’s transformative agenda for the youth in the areas of skills training for the world of work.
He was hopeful that this would be the first of many visits and encouraged the Chairmen to continue to work assiduously to lift up the name of Ghana.
