The Education Programme of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO works to defend and advance quality, inclusive, and lifelong learning for all Ghanaians. Guided by UNESCO’s intergovernmental mechanisms and global frameworks, we strengthen Ghana’s educational and creative economy while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG4 (Quality Education).
Our Four Core Approaches
We deliver our mandate through four main strategies:
- Crisis-Sensitive Education – Supporting learning continuity during armed conflict, emergencies, and disasters
- Education Adapting to Contemporary Challenges – Promoting education’s role in climate action, digital transformation, biodiversity, and Africa’s priorities
- Heritage Education & Preservation – Integrating world heritage, intangible cultural heritage, underwater heritage, and Memory of the World into learning
- Education for Sustainable Societies – Creating inclusive, peaceful, and creative communities through global citizenship and cultural diversity
