About GHC

The Ghana Heritage Committee (GHC), the first of its kind in West African Sub-Region was inaugurated on 23rd September 2020, by the Hon. Akosua Fremah Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh former Minister for Education and Chairman of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO and Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi Former Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture to serve as ana umbrella of the legally mandated institutions to effectively and efficiently manage the country’s divers heritage resources.

The GHC is composed of all stakeholder institutions whose work has impact on Ghana’s heritage. The Committee is also made up of a Steering, Technical Committee and a Secretariat.

The committee which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture is hosted by the Ghana Commission for UNESCO.

And what is our VISION? To effectively manage and promote the diverse heritage resources of Ghana through an inclusive and integrated approach supported by innovation, creativity and good practices while involving all actors
