With support from the UNESCO Accra office, the Ghana Education Service (GES) Greater Accra Regional Science, Technology, Mathematics and Innovation Education (STMIE) Unit, in collaboration with the National Society of Black Engineers Ghana (NSBE GH), the Ghana Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) Committee, and the College of Basic and Applied Sciences of the University of Ghana, Legon, the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO organized a one-day workshop in commemoration of the UN international Day of Women and Girls in Science with the theme “Investment in Women & Girls in Science for Inclusive Green Growth” on 12th February, 2019 at the University of Ghana.
The event was attended by approximately 250 participants including the Deputy Minister of Education/TVET, the Head of Department of Engineering, and the Provost of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences of the University of Ghana, the Representative of UNESCO to Ghana, the Secretary General of the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM), and other prominent female luminaries in the STEM fraternity in Ghana. There were also representations from 15 Senior High Schools, 4 universities, CSO’s, and private sector organizations.
