The All-Africa Student Union is organizing the COP27 Global Student Pre-Summit ahead of the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27), which will be held on November 7–18, 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. The summit aims to bring students and youth voices from around the world together to inform policy at the COP27. Masterclasses, expert panels, mock sessions, and workshops will be used during the Accra Summit to compile shared experiences regarding the impact(s) of climate change on education around the world as well as important political actions necessary to implement sustainability initiatives to safeguard education.
The Pre-Summit will bring together students and young people from Sixteen(16) Countries including Honduras, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, UK, Pakistan, Latvia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya among others to help shape discussions on policy options to be delivered at COP27 later in November, 2022. Through masterclasses, expert panel discussions, mock sessions and workshops, the Accra Summit will discuss the impart(s) of climate change on education across the world and key political actions needed to adopt sustainability initiatives to protect education.
The Goal of COP27 is to focus on global action on climate change by continuing to cut emissions and adapting to climate change to save lives. This is in line with Ghana’s medium to long term plan for building a sustainable industrial economy based on green innovation principles.
We wish to commend All-Africa Students Union (AASU) and Global Students Forum (GSF) for hosting the event in Ghana and encourages all the participating students and youth to take a keen interest in discussions during the period.
