In line with the Operational Guidelines of the 1972 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of Cultural and Natural Heritage, the Secretary-General for the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO commissioned the Cultural Officer to make a tour to the Asante Traditional Buildings (ATB). The tour was intended to examine and report on the State of Conservation (SOC) of the Asante Traditional Buildings. The preliminary examination of the ATB’s revealed that almost 80% of the buildings are in bad shape and that urgent intervention through restoration work need to be initiated.
