REGIONAL STAKEHOLDERS CONSULTATION WORKSHOP COMPREHENSIVE NATIONAL TEACHER POLICY & TEACHER DEPLOYMENT AND TRANSFER STRATEGY 2020

The Ghana Teacher Task Force is the national representation of the relevant government Agencies and Partners led by the Hon. Minister for Education. The Ghana Education Service through a World Bank and Global Partnership for Education project- Ghana Accountablity for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) has developed a Teacher Deployment and Transfer Strategy to support a regime of improved teacher managemnt. In the same direction, the National Teaching Council has led on the developent of the Comprehensive National Teacher Policy which provides a holistic direction for addressing teacher issues in the country.

Objective and output of the workshop:

With the NTI-GTTF comprising the Partners and Government Agencies involved  in working with and champoining the course for teachers, a regional stakeholders’ consultation meeting was planned to discuss and obtain feedback from teachers and relevant stakeholders. This will inform the final version of the two documents: the conprehensive national teacher policy and teacher depleyment and transfer strategy. The program was across regions in Ghana, on 22^nd – 29^th July 2020 May.

When teachers, education support personnel and educational authorities cooperate meaningfully and share their expertise to identify solutions to the problems our education systems are experiencing, we are more likely to succeed in achieving quality education for all. The workshop concluded with the teachers giving inputs into the drafted teacher policy and asking question for their understanding. The engagement recognizes the benefits of stakeholder engagement in the education sector for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4, recalls the ILO/UNESCO 1966 and 1997
