The World Higher Education Conference (WHEC 2022) organized by UNESCO began today in Barcelona, Spain. It is scheduled to end on May 20, 2022. Prof. Mark Adom Asamoah (Provost, College of Engineering, KNUST), Prof. Abednego Feehi Oko Amartey (Vice-Chancellor-UPSA) Dr Eric Nkansah (Director, Tertiary Directorate, MoE), and Mr Nhyira Sarfo Adu-Amankwah (Deputy Director, Tertiary Directorate) members of the Ghanaian Delegates, have joined other representatives and experts from around the world to debate and create a roadmap for higher education in the next 10 years.
This world conference is happening at the heels of profound social, economic, and cultural transformation coupled with the need to embark on a post pandemic reconstruction. Indeed, higher education all over the world have a pressing need to evolve from traditional models to become authentic drivers of social change by creating, disseminating knowledge, talent and connecting industry to higher education.
In this line, Ghana’s delegation will take advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas and gain new skills in order to assist revolutionize higher education in Ghana. The UNESCO Ghana Commission wishes the delegation a successful conference on the theme “Reinventing Higher Education for a Sustainable Future.”
